Liz Murray’s full name is Elizabeth “Liz” Murray. She was born on September 23, 1980 in Bronx, New York. Liz Murray is an American inspirational speaker who is best known as having been homeless in her youth and as having overcome her hardship to achieve success.

Murray was born to the poor, drug-addicted, HIV-infected parents. At her age of 15, her mother died of AIDS, and her father moved to a homeless shelter. Then she became homeless. Murray’s life changed when she began attending the Humanities Preparatory Academy in Chelsea, Manhattan.

Liz Murray has completed her graduation in only two years. She was awarded a New York Times scholarship for needy students and accepted into Harvard University, matriculating in the fall semester of 2000. She left Harvard University in 2003, because of her father health condition. She resumed her education at Columbia University to be closer to him. Her father also died of AIDS. Then she has completed her graduation in June 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Now she wants to earn a doctorate in clinical psychology.
