Bobby McFerrin

Bobby McFerrin’s birth name is Robert McFerrin, Jr. He was born on March 11, 1950 in Manhattan, New York. He is a great vocalist and conductor. His parents were late operatic baritone Robert McFerrin, and aspiring singer Sarah Cooper. He is a ten-time Grammy Award winner. His famous song is “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. This song is released in 1988. Robert McFerrin is very expert for playing the instruments in nice way. The instruments which are using by McFerrin are vocals, piano, bass guitar, and clarinet.

He switches rapidly and fluidly between normal and falsetto registers to create polyphonic effects, effectively performing both the main melody and the accompanying parts of songs. He is also an overtone singer. McFerrin’s best song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” won “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year” honors. He got many awards and honors. Also he has worked in the organization with instrumental performers including pianists Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Joe Zawinul, drummer Tony Williams, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

As a sideman some of his performances are Pharaoh Sanders, Grover Washington, Jr., Charles Lloyd Quartet, Chico Freeman, Weather Report, Spontin’ Life; Al Jarreau, Yellowjackets, Wynton Marsalis, and Size2shoes. In 1975, Bobby McFerrin was married to Debbie Green. They have three children.
