Magadh University is located at Bodh Gaya in the state of Bihar, India. The university is established in 1962 by prominent educationist, and Education Minister, Late Satyendra Narayan Sinha. This University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Now, the University is governed by Bihar State University Act 1976. Magadh University is placed in a peaceful, lush green and pollution& noise free atmosphere. The Vice-Chancellor of the Magadha University is Prof. B. N. Pandey.
The facilities which can provide by the University are very great. The Magadha University provides facilities for higher learning and research in the faculties of Science, Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce. It was started with two constituent colleges, 32 affiliated colleges and 7 P.G departments.
Now, the status of the University is very high. This vast institution having 24 post graduate departments, 44 constituent colleges and 85 affiliated colleges imparting higher education in Humanities, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Medical, Engineering &Management courses. The University has several professional/vocational courses like M.B.A., M.C.A., B.B.M., Environmental Science, Tourism & Travel Management, Counseling & Rehabilitation, Journalism & Mass Communication, etc. There are two Government Medical Colleges, Two private Engineering Colleges and One private Dental College and three Law colleges under the Magadha University.
It has multi storied Central library. That library has 1, 62,245 books, manuscripts and more. The University provides more facilities including, eight big hostels on the University campus for 1500 students.
