Raj Babbar was born on June 23, 1952. He is a Hindi and Punjabi actor since 1977. After defeating Dimple Yadav, he is currently the Member of Parliament from Firozabad. Dimple yadav is the daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Previously he was the part of the samajwadi party. This is his fourth term as MP.

PERSONAL INFORMATION:
Raj Babbar was born in Agra. He was an alumnus of the 1975 batch of National School of Drama. He got his graduation from Agra College.
ACTING CARRER:
He got trained in the Method school of acting at NSD and interest in street Theatre. After getting trained in New Delhi, he moved to Bombay to test himself in film field. He started acting opposite of the well known actresses of that time Reena Roy in the Hindi film Sau Dina Saas Ke. This led them to have an affair which helped him in his future.
He became famous by acting in a beautiful role of a rich playboy-rapist in B.R.Chopra’s Insaaf ka Tarazu. Zeenat Aman was the hero and 13 year old Padmini Kolhapure was the herione. Films which brought him name were, Nikaah, Aaj ki Aawaj with Smita Patil. Later on he married Smitha Patil although he was already married and had two children.
He gave remarkable performances in Punjabi films, Chan Pardesi and Long Da Lishkara. These two were the arthouse movies. They were treated in a mostly realistic manner.
He also got fame through the hit Punjabi films Aasra Pyar Da(1983), Marhi Da Diva(1989), Mahul Theek Hai(1999), Shaheed Uddam Singh(2000), Yaraan naal bahraan(2005), Ek jind ek jaan(2006). Babbar always did Punjabi films for free as a tribute to Punjabi cinema.
BIOGRAPHY:
Raj babbar’s first wife was Nadira Zaheer, who is the daughter of his professor at the National School Of Drama, Sajjad Zaheer. He had two children her, Arya babbar and Juhi babbar. Then he married famous actress Smitha Patil. They had a son Prateek babbar. Smitha Patil died of post-partum complications after few hours. Now, Prateek babbar lives with the parents of Smitha Patil. Juhi Babbar acted in two films and then got married. Prattek Babbar acted in Jaane tu Ya Jaane Na as the brother to main female character, Aditi. This was his debut film.
POLITICAL CAREER:
Later on he joined Samajwadi Party and became the Member of Parliament of India three times from his native constituency, Agra.
As Amar Singh openly criticized him, he got suspended from the party. As propagated by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, the basis of formation of Samajwadi Party, he emphasized in socialism. But, Amar Singh has connections with industrialists and various celebrities in Hindi cinema. To, survive in Indian Politics, money-power and influence are only the essential things.
Later on, on 5th October, 2008, he joined the Congress Party.
