Babri Masjid

Babri Masjid is built by Babur, the first Mughal emperor of India in the 16th century. Babri masjid is also called as Babri Mosque, or Mosque of Babur. Till 1940s, the masjid was also called as Masjid-i-Jankasthan (mosque of the birthplace). It was destroyed by Hindu nationalists on December 6, 1992. Babri Masjid is located in Ayodhya.

Babri Masjid is one of the largest Mosques in Uttar Pradesh, India with some 31 million Muslims. The rulers of the Delhi Sultanate were great lovers of art and architecture and they built many fine tombs, mosques, and madrasas. Babri Masjid has an excellent architectural style.babur1

Babri Masjid was a mixture of the local influence and Western Asian style. The total structure of Masjid is very beautiful. On the structures, two inscriptions wrote down in Persian declaring that this structure was built by Mir Baqi on the orders of Babur. Coarse-grained whitish sandstone blocks were used to construct the walls of Babri Mosque.babri masjid1
