Crooked House is a fiction by Agatha Christie. It is a detective fiction which was published in US in the year 1949 by Dodd, Mead and Company. It was published in UK by the Collins Crime Club on May 23, of the same year. The story is related to the places near London. The title is related to a nursery rhyme (“there was a crooked man”).

The story mainly starts with the Leonides family living together in a crooked house, under the patriarchy of Aristide. Aristide is an ageing millionaire, who mostly spends his days in the company of his second wife, Brenda. He then gets poisoned by his own eye medicine. Then his granddaughter Sophia demands his fiancé Charles Hayward to find the killer and says him that she cannot marry him until he finds the killer. So, he starts his investigation very desperate to marry her.

This book was rated the best by Maurice Richardson. Agatha herself said that it was one of the favorite books of the two the other being Ordeal by Innocence.
