HAJI MASTAN

Haji mastan is popularly known as bawa. He was a gangster and smuggler in
Bombay during 1960’s and 70’s. He was born in Tamil nadu. He became the first celebrity gangster after expanding himself in Bollywood. After he gained influence in Bollywood, he became a producer. During the Indian Emergency time, he got arrested where he learnt Hindi. He became the Muslim leader in 1984. He got the guidance how to speak in the public meetings from Aslam Kiratpuri, who was a well known journalist. He died in the year 1994. He migrated to Mumbai from Madras at the age of 17. He is comfortable in reading Tamil perfectly. He first worked as a Cooli, at the docks of Bombay. Later on, he became powerful in Politics.

He started his movie project through the film Mere Gaib Nawaz. He excelled in cinema business. His life was shooted as the film Deewar in the year 1975. Amitabh Bachan acted in the role of Mastan. He personally met him to learn his mannerisms. Contrast to this, he was a simple man at home with minimum needs and facilities. Despite the cases against him, he never indulged in smuggling again. He found a political party named Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh. He devoted his time in conducting meetings with the poor and needy and held public rallies. When he stood in the election in Mumbai, he supported the senior journalist Sharafat Munne Khan who was also the editor of Bombay Press Hindi Weekly.
