Gene Wilder’s birth name is Jerome Silberman. He is an American stage and screen actor, director, screenwriter, and author. He was born on June 11, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S. In 1967, he began his acting career through the film, Bonnie and Clyde. His first major role was as Leo Bloom in the 1968 film The Producers. Recently, Wilder wrote a memoir in 2005, Kiss Me like a Stranger: My Search for Love and Art, and the novels My French Whore (2007) and The Woman Who Wouldn’t (2008).

His parents were Jeanne and William J. Silberman. His father was a Russian Jewish immigrant. While studying at the HB Studio in New York, Wilder was married to Mary Mercier, She was his first wife. They married on July 22, 1960, and divorced in 1965. After that, he liked his sister’s friend Mary Joan Schutz.

He was started dating with her. On October 27, 1967, he was married to Joan Schutz. After seven years, they were separated. He dated with another Frankenstein co-star Teri Garr. After a few days, Wilder met Saturday Night Live actress Gilda Radner on August 13, 1981, while filming Sidney Poitier’s Hanky Panky. At that moment Gilda Radner was married by G.E. Smith. After finished the movie Gene Wilder felt in love with Radner. She divorce his first husband Smith in 1982, and married Wilder on September 14, 1984, in the south of France.

Radner suffered miscarriages. Her health condition was fully spoiled. It was determined that she had ovarian cancer in October 1986. She died on May 20, 1989. After that, Wilder felt sad, and became active in promoting cancer awareness and treatment.
