Burj Dubai which is also called Dubai tower is a tall building skyscraper under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is tallest man made structure ever built. The height of the building is 818 m (2684 ft). The construction of the building began on 21 September 2004 and it will get occupied on 4 January 2010.

This building is a part of “Down town Dubai” along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai’s main business district. The architect of this tower is Adrian Smith, who worked for Skidmore until 2006. The firm, SOM which is a Chicago based architecture and engineering firm is the in charge of this project. Samsung Engineering & Construction, Besix and Arabtec are the primary builders of this project. Turner Construction Company was chosen as the construction manager for this project. Burj Dubai was given a budget of about $4.1 billion in the US currency. The budget for the whole “Down town Dubai” is $20 billion. The CEO of Emaar Properties, Mohammed Ali Alabbar stated that the price of the office space at this tower had reached $4000 per sq ft. It was said that there were lot of plans to increase the height of the building since its inspection. The official height of the building is 808 m. It will be regarded the tallest building in 2009.

It was first said that the building will be completed by 9 June 2008 but it was delayed and got postponed to September 2009. Now, finally it was announced that the completion date will be on 2 December 2009.
