Indira Priyadarashini Gandhi was the Prime Minister of the Republic of India from 1966 to 1977 . She was Prime Minister for fifteen years .And that to she was india’s first only femle Prime Minister. She was born on 19th November 1917. Indira was born in the politically influential Nehru Family,she grew up in an political atmosphere .Her gandfather Motilal Nehru was a prominent Indian nationalist leader. And her father Jawaharlal Nehru was a person in the Indian Independence movement and he was the first Prime Minister of Independent India. In the year 1941 Indira Gandhi became involved in the Indian Independence movement.

After Indira’s father death in the year 1964, she was appointed as a member of the Rajya Sabha by the President of India and became a member of Lal Bahadur Shastri’s as Minister of Information. The Congress Party President K.Kamaraj was the main person in making Indira Gandhi the Prime Minister after the sudden death of Shastri.

In the earlly 1940 Indira spent time in a rest home in Switzerland to recover from chronic lung disease. She use to write letters to her father to maintained her long distance relationship. . In Europe and the UK she met a young active man in Politicsi.e. Feroze Gandhi .After returning to India Feroze Gandhi grew close to the Nehry Family especially to Indira’s mother and Indira.After returning to India Feroze Gandhi and Indira they were in love and had decided to get married Indira like Feroze’s oopenness and sense of humor and self confidence .but Nehru did not like the idea of his daughter. Indira and Feroze married in the year 1942 according to Hindu rituals.

INDIRA AND FEROZE MARRIAGE

Feroze and Indira were both members of the Indian National Congres when Quit India Movement took part in the year 1942. And they both were arrested .After few months they gave a birth for two sons .Shortly after his re-election Feroze suffered a heart attack which lead to a reconciliation .Feroze relationship with his sons is only for few years and he was expired on 1960 September. On 31st October 1984 Indira was also expired .
